Bogle Junior High School Student Council Constitution

 
STUCO

Article I – Name

Section 1.  The official name of this organization shall be Bogle Junior High School Student Council, herinafter called STUCO

Article II – Purpose

Section 1.  display good citizenship
Section 2.  Respect all individuals in the school and community.
Section 3.  Involve all students in sharing ideas to make our school the best it can be.
Section 4.  Help all students work together in our school
Section 5.  Promote school spirit and pride 

Article III – Membership 

Section 1.  All Stuco members are chosen the year before they serve by an application process approved by BJHS Staff.  Application process occurs in the spring for 6th and 7th graders for the next year.  Current 7th graders will need to reapply for their 8th grade year. 
Section 2.  Initial group of members will be chosen in the spring after the application process. It will be open to all students at the start of second quarter. 
Section 3. The Principal of Bogle Junior High School shall be the final authority over all actions of STUCO

Article IV – Representatives

Section 1. BJHS shall be open to representation of all the school through the comment box located in the media center for any student to use.  All students can give input to STUCO for ideas for the school. 

Article V – Meetings and voting

Section 1.  Regular meetings shall be held at least once each month during the school year.
Section 2. All motions require a second and will be passed by majority vote.
Section 3.  Roberts Rules of Order shall be the authority for Parliamentary Procedure that is to be used at all regular meetings.
Section 4.  Any and all actions of STUCO are not official until approved by the Principal.


Article VI – Officers

Section 1.  The members choose the officers of STUCO when the school year begins by an election process.  Officer positions will consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian. All officers shall exercise the usual duties of the office to which they have been elected.
Section 2. The office of president must be held by an 8th grade STUCO member.  All other offices can be held by students in either grade. 
Section 3.  officers will maintain a minimum 2.5 grade average in all subjects throughout the school year.
Section 4.  All officers will fall under the BJHS extra curricular policies regarding eligibility  

Article VII – Sponsor (s)
Section 1.  The BJHS STUCO advisor shall be a teacher affiliated with BJHS and chosen by the principal.

Article VIII – Finances

Section 1. STUCO will be responsible for finances and of keeping record of money raised and spent.

Section 2.  Any fundraising by any member shall be used for the benefit of the club through a majority rule regardless of who raised the funds.

Article IX – Removal from office

Section 1.  Any member can be removed from STUCO for following the reasons: poor attendance, failure to perform duties, failure to maintain a 2.5 grade point average, and/or not following school rules.

Article X – Amendments

Section 1.  To amend this Constitution, the proposed amendments must be, in writing, to the president by any STUCO member.  it must be approved by a three-fourths majority vote for adoption.
Section 2.  No rules, regulations, or laws shall be adopted which are contrary to this constitution.
