GRIT Academy

Our Vision:
The Bogle GRIT Academy is led by a dedicated team of highly qualified teachers that is committed to providing an educational experience that recognizes the distinct needs, talents, and potential of each student. Our highly qualified content experts work together to integrate concepts from social studies, English language arts, mathematics and science in order to create a personalized learning experience that is rigorous, complex, and deepens knowledge, while sustaining the interest of each student.
All core subjects will be explored at the honors level in ways that engage and challenge students, tapping into their interests, curiosity, and potential. The GRIT Academy at Bogle is committed to an educational program, benefiting both highly accelerated and gifted and talented students, that recognizes the values, needs, and talents of the individual student. We differentiate to ensure a personalized, educational experience that meets each student's needs and includes depth, complexity, novelty, and acceleration through content-rich activities.

In addition to required core classes, GRIT Academy students are integrated into the larger school community through participation in self-selected clubs, sports, and our unique Pathways Elective Programs.
The aim of Bogle GRIT Academy is to prepare students for academically challenging and advanced coursework. We pride ourselves on working in conjunction with our local high schools to ensure students are registered appropriately, depending upon their individual wants/needs. School is not a "one-size-fits-all" and we like to treat our students' high school registration with the same philosophy. Our goal is to instill a desire for personal achievement and excellence, a sense of individual responsibility, and a mindset of perseverance and growth in each participant. We are Growing Resilience, Integrity, and Talent – GRIT!

Student Placement
Students are identified for the GRIT Academy using the following criteria:
- Currently live within Bogle School Boundaries and have Bogle listed as their next school.
- Currently participate in a CUSD CATS program at their elementary school AND/OR
- Score as "Gifted Eligible" on the CogAT assessment
- Score Highly Proficient in BOTH Math and English Language Arts portions of their 5th grade AZ Merit assessment
If a student does live in BJHS boundaries but does not currently attend a CUSD Elementary School, the student would need to register as a student for next school year. Once the student is registered, we would then look at available information for the student including previous COGAT, or Gifted scores, and AZMerit scores. Placement into the GRIT Academy is not guaranteed.
Students that do not live in our boundaries would need to complete an open enrollment application with the District (available beginning November 12th). Approved open enrollment does not guarantee placement in the GRIT Academy. Once approved for Open enrollment through the district, we would then look at available information for the student including previous COGAT, or Gifted scores, and AZMerit scores.
Confirmation for acceptance into the GRIT academy would not occur until these processes are completed. We do not require any testing as part of our process.
